Commercial Glazed Screens

Forster Presto · E/EW rated system

COMMERCIAL GLAZED
STEEL SCREENS.

Interior steel and glass screens. E/EW classification up to 60. Fixed screens to E 120. Premium commercial lobbies, glazed atria, open-plan compartmentation.

Important Classification Note

Presto is tested and classified to E and EW only — never EI. E controls integrity and flame passage; EW adds limited radiation control. Do not specify Presto where EI (integrity + insulation) is required — use Fuego Light instead.

DFM fabricates the Forster Presto system under annual-audit licence from Forster AG (Switzerland). Forster AG holds all test evidence, Declarations of Performance, and CE certification for this system.

Forster Presto

The slim-sightline commercial system.

Presto is Forster's thinnest-profile steel screen system — built for the architectural restraint of commercial lobbies, atria, and open-plan compartmentation where a clean sightline matters as much as the classification.

E controls flame and gas passage. EW adds limited radiation control. Neither provides insulation — the unexposed face will heat up in a fire. If insulation on the unexposed face is required, specify Fuego Light (EI).

Presto · Configuration 01

Swing Doors

Single and double leaf swing doors in Presto profile. For commercial lobby access, corridor separation, and glazed partitioning where E/EW integrity is the specified requirement.

Product Configuration Classification (E/EW) Smoke
Presto SW E 30 Single / double leaf E 30 RS / S200 (opt.)
Presto SW EW 30 Single / double leaf EW 30 RS / S200 (opt.)
Presto SW E 60 Single / double leaf E 60 RS / S200 (opt.)
Presto SW EW 60 Single / double leaf · Max EW 60 RS / S200 (opt.)

Presto swing doors are classified to a maximum of E 60 / EW 60. Presto is never EI rated — if insulation on the unexposed face is required, specify Fuego Light.

Presto · Configuration 02

Fixed Screens

Non-opening Presto screens. The only Presto configuration that achieves E 120.

Product Configuration Classification (E/EW) Smoke
Presto FS E 30 Fixed screen E 30 RS / S200 (opt.)
Presto FS EW 30 Fixed screen EW 30 RS / S200 (opt.)
Presto FS E 60 Fixed screen E 60 RS / S200 (opt.)
Presto FS EW 60 Fixed screen EW 60 RS / S200 (opt.)
Presto FS E 120 Fixed screen · Flagship E 120 RS / S200 (opt.)

E 120 in Presto is achieved on fixed screens only. Do not specify E 120 on any swing-door configuration. Presto remains E/EW rated across all configurations — never EI.

Presto · Configuration 03

Smoke Control Screens

Presto screens configured for smoke control rather than fire integrity. Used for smoke compartmentation in atria, stairwells, and open-plan office floorplates.

Product Configuration Smoke Classification Leakage (S200)
Presto SC RS Smoke control screen RS Tested at 200 °C
Presto SC S200 Smoke control screen S200 Tested at 200 °C

Smoke classifications (RS / S200) are independent of fire integrity. Where both are required, specify a Presto E/EW configuration with the RS/S200 smoke option selected.

Technical Specifications

Presto system parameters.

Profile dimensions, glazing build-up, and ironmongery confirmed per project against the Forster Presto system manual. Presto delivers E/EW integrity — not EI insulation.

Installation

Glazing and frame integration.

Presto is installed per the Forster system manual. Glass is supplied and glazed to the Forster specification — the E/EW classification depends on the correct glass, gasket, and seal build-up being delivered together. Substituting any component voids the classification.

Supported substrates: masonry, concrete, structural steel, and engineered timber. Presto is an interior-only system. Smoke-seal engagement must be verified at commissioning where the RS/S200 option has been specified.

  • 01

    Verify the opening

Check structural opening against the Forster system field of application and the project-specific fabrication schedule.

  • 02

    Frame installation

Install Forster profile frame with approved anchors. Plumb, square, and packed to Forster tolerance. Maintain thermal break continuity on Unico.

  • 03

    Glazing

Glaze with the specified Forster fire glass, gaskets, and intumescent seals. No substitution. Handle per Forster manual to avoid edge damage.

  • 04

    Commission and record

Test operation, verify smoke seal engagement, and record the Forster DoP reference and installer sign-off for the project file.

CE Certification · Forster Presto

Presto CE certification is held by Forster AG (Switzerland). DFM fabricates Presto under annual-audit licence and supplies Forster-issued test evidence, Declarations of Performance, and CE documentation with each order.

Presto is classified to E and EW only — never EI. Specify Presto where integrity and flame passage (E) or limited radiation control (EW) is the requirement. Where insulation on the unexposed face is required, specify Fuego Light (EI).
